Frequently asked questions

Who are these courses for?

Whether you're starting out, switching careers, or upskilling in your current role, our courses are designed for aspiring and practising data professionals: analysts, BI developers, data engineers, and risk analysts.

Do I need prior experience to start?

Our Core-level courses assume no prior SQL, Power BI, Python, or Databricks experience. Applied and Professional levels build on the Core foundations.

How is the training delivered?

You can choose between self-study (learn at your own pace with structured content) or live training (instructor-led online sessions in small groups).

What does the training include?

Self-study

  • Full lifetime access to course content
  • 1 year Azure SQL database access

Live training

  • Access to the related self-study course
  • 1 year database access
  • 1 project
  • 1 hour weekly group project review sessions

Project bundle

  • 3 projects to complete
  • 1 hour weekly group project review sessions
  • 1 year database access
  • Project defence
  • Advanced certificate
  • References for completed projects
What do I get at the end of a course?

Three things, layered on top of each other as you progress:

  • Course completion certificate — issued each time you complete a course.
  • Advanced certificate + professional reference — earned after completing the related project bundle (3 real-world projects to prove competence) with our partner company.
  • Personal profile page — built up automatically as you progress, showing the courses you've taken, skills you've developed, and your proficiency level in each. Shareable directly with employers and recruitment agencies.
Can I try before I buy?

Yes — every course has free preview lessons, and we run free taster sessions covering foundations of data, SQL, and Power BI. No commitment required.

What if I fall behind or can't finish on time?

Self-study courses give you lifetime access. Live training includes a 4-week project window after the sessions to complete assessed work with instructor feedback.

Do I need to know how to code already?

No. Our Core-level courses start from zero — they cover the fundamentals before introducing more advanced ideas. SQL and Power BI are particularly approachable for non-coders: SQL is closer to writing sentences than writing code, and Power BI is mostly drag-and-drop. Python and Databricks involve more code, but the data-focused subset is much friendlier than full software engineering.

If you've never used Excel beyond basic formulas, take the 7-minute assessment — it factors in your starting point and recommends a sensible first step.

How much does it cost?

Self-study courses are priced individually — most Core-level courses sit in the £79–£149 range, with Applied and Professional levels going up from there. Live training cohorts cost more (you're getting instructor time + small-group sessions). Portfolio Projects are sold separately as bundles or single sectors; pairing a portfolio with the matching course gets you 15% off the portfolio automatically.

The 7-minute assessment recommends a specific starter course (with the price) so you can see the exact spend before committing.

How many hours per week do I need?

It depends on the level and how fast you want to move:

  • Sprint (15+ hrs/week) — a Core course in 4–6 weeks; a full track to Applied level in ~3 months.
  • Steady (6–10 hrs/week) — Core in 8–10 weeks; a full track in ~6 months. Most working learners pick this.
  • Deep (3–5 hrs/week) — Core in 3–4 months; a full track in 9–12 months. Best for parents or busy schedules.

The assessment asks how many hours you can realistically commit and gives you an honest timeline back.

What computer or equipment do I need?

Anything that runs a modern browser. The labs are browser-based — you write SQL and Python directly in the lesson page; the actual database and Python runtime live on our cloud servers. You don't need to install anything, and a low-spec laptop or Chromebook works fine.

The only exception is Power BI Desktop, which is a free Microsoft app for Windows. If you're on macOS or Linux, the Power BI Service (web) covers most of the same ground for the Core course.

Will this get me a job?

We don't guarantee jobs — anyone who does is misleading you. What we do guarantee:

  • Hands-on practice on the actual skills UK employers ask for in data job ads
  • A portfolio of reviewed, real-data projects you can show in interviews
  • A professional reference from CubedNet Limited (our partner company, UK Co. 10275872) on successful completion of a portfolio project bundle
  • An honest CareerSwerve Score (0–2,000) you can share with employers

Outcomes depend on you, the market, and how you sell yourself in interviews. Our role is to make sure you've actually built something worth talking about.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind?

Self-study courses: 14-day refund window from purchase, provided you've completed less than 25% of the lessons. After that, the course is yours for life.

Live training cohort fees are non-refundable after the first session has started (small group sizes mean we can't easily backfill a dropped seat), but if you have to drop out you keep access to the recordings and the related self-study course.

Portfolio Projects: 14-day refund window before you submit the first project for review. Once reviewed, no refund — the instructor's time has been spent.
